Leverage Your Infrastructure with ESON
At this very moment, utilities like yourself are deploying broadband access networks and services. Whether municipality-based, PUDs, cooperatives, or other structure, the opportunities associated with broadband services are increasingly more compelling for power utilities.
Utilities - Benefits
Amedia solutions fit extremely well with the unique needs of power utilities that want to implement broadband services.
  • Turn-key Solution: Amedia can provide a turn-key solution. Program Management, a Network Operations Center, Equipment Installation Services, Fiber Selection and Installation, Training … Amedia brings together all of the pieces to turn on the flow of triple play services.

  • Open Access: For utilities that are required to provide wholesale access services only, our ESON (Ethernet Switched Optical Network) based FTTP solution enables a fully open access platform. With the capability to manage a rich set of VLANs with QoS and other parameters, a large number of geographically disbursed service providers can specify the performance parameters that they need to offer their services to their consumers via the utility’s network.

  • Power Integration: Hardware is designed to work with existing power sources to eliminate any necessity to enter the premises, as well as to allow for automatic meter reading, remote shutdown of services, and all relevant alarming.

  • Hardened for Outdoor Deployment: Both the AS5000 Aggregation Switch and the PG1000 Premises Gateway are available in hardened versions to easily integrate into the existing outside plant (OSP) of utilities. In these configurations, they are able to maintain their high level of performance within temperature ranges of -40°C to +65°C, as well as within wide ranges of humidity. The PG1000 hardened version is designed to mount on the exterior of buildings, allows for separate, locked, access for craft, and offers an eight hour back-up power capability.

  • Street Furniture Options: The power-efficient AS5000 can be placed in high density cabinet configurations, mounted either in an enclosure on a pad at street level or in pole mounted arrangements, and requires no air conditioning or other environmental conditioning.
